Chianti Montalbano belongs to the great family of Chianti wines. Boasting of its own personality, it maintains the traits common to all Chianti wines :a beautiful ruby color with the characteristic vinous scent blended with traces of violet.
The variety of grapes in our vineyards are of the classical variety used to produce Chianti wine, and represent the typical expression of Tuscan territory: the Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Malvasia and Trebbiano Toscano grapes.
Wine and olive oil have been produced on our farm since 1873, following a tradition and experience passed from one generation to another, with great emphasis placed on producing a genuine and high quality product.
The olive oil of Northern Tuscany is of high quality and is less sour, more savoury and stabler than southern olive oils. Here trees produce 10 times less than those found in warmer climates.
The variety of the trees in our olive groves are of the typical ones used for Extra Virgin Tuscan Olive Oil namely of the Leccino, Moraiolo, Pendolino, Frantoio, Rossellino, Mignolo Cerretano, Piangente variety.
Since 2001 "Spazzavento" was appointed by the Tuscany Region as biological farm according to the EEC Reg. 2092/91 on organic agriculture.
Since 2001 "Spazzavento" has participated in the "Montalbano Extra Virgin olive oil" certification programme.
